surprise snow!
This is a shot from the south side of the bridge on the Arkansas River, going from Ft. Smith to Van Buren. It was about 4:30 and you could tell that it was going to get worse. It did! I don't have to go to work tomorrow, but we will have to make it up when the weather is great this spring. :(

squirrel
I couldn't get this one to go into the sunlight. He watched me for a long time, though. :)

music room
This is what has happened to my music room this year. There are seven of us in there now. We heard today that our new rooms were done. Some things were moved over, but then we found out that there was still one more thing to be done. I don't know how much more I can take! Surely it can be fixed soon.
Not going to hold my breath, though. :)

sleep over
My wife left town for work tonight, taking the two younger ones with here. When she goes, my daughter likes it when her brother stays with her. That's nice of him to do this -- I don't think I would have done that for my brother. :)

chicken
Dreary and cold all day, so nothing worth taking a picture of -- until when I tested my new rotisserie! :) I had some problems, but it sure turned out o.k.
p.s.- I put a lemon (cut in half) and a head of garlic inside of it --- then pepper and oil on the outside. --- cooked for 1 and a half hours. While it got close to the end, I brushed it with pesto, which was also brushed on it on the plate. I figured it would work well, and it did.

main street
This was a nice sunset shot on Main Street today. It was nice today, but it's do get winter-like this weekend. :(

This is from the river-wall mural.

down town
Nothing unusual here. I love how these buildings show so many different shapes, even though they are connected.

sun's warmth
I decided to bring my haiga from Past Tense over here for today. I liked that photo. It was taken early one morning and it was horribly cold!

tuba sound
As you can see, it's never quiet in my house! With four of them, there's always something going on. :)

close-up
Here are two close-up shots of the wall that I posted on Thursday.

river trees
It was so dreary today! This was the only thing that looked interesting to me. Rain is all that we're getting yet, but you can see what the wind was doing to the river trees. Brrrr!

t.v. at work
This is one of my temporary class rooms. In the next two weeks, I will move to my permanent one - which I have been waiting for since last spring! This week, for a while, the kids also had a temporary teacher. This was a DVD of digital music/video. It's amazing what they can see now that we wouldn't have imagined when we were kids!

painted wall
I took this one while turning up on Log Town hill. The weather is still bad, but there are still some things worth looking at.
I'm glad that they painted this wall. It looks so much better than plain concrete.

cold water
This is a very cold goose! When I took the photo today, it was 27f degrees.

Drennen again
It's funny how things end up. A couple of weeks ago, I stopped by the Drennen House and took a photo of it. (January 1) Today, I got to school for our professional development meeting, and was told that we were all going to go on a bus to see the inside of the Drennen House! It's not open to the public, but we were able to see how the inside looked like. Most of it has been taken away until the work is done, but this room looked o.k. To see a good story of it, look here.

more rain
This is usually a trickle of water running down here in the park. This gives you an idea how much rain we have been getting for the last few days. It's supposed to get down to the 20's tonight, so who knows what will happen? :)

rain, rain go away
It's been raining for days now. This is a shot from my front door. The reflection shows how wet my yard is. It has to stop some day!

This is a photo of the building from which yesterday's photo was taken from.

cloudy day
Taking my son to get his allergies shot today and looked out the 3rd floor window at this part of Fort Smith. What a dreary day!

time
I've driven by this barn for years. The first photo I took a few weeks ago, but it was way too dark. I figured I would take another soon. Today, I drove by it and planned to take the picture when I came back by in a few minutes.
The wind has been horrible, and when I came back by, the bard had been blown down! Don't wait too long.

Sunday drive
It was a really nice day today. The sky was so blue!

winter?
This is what I saw after midnight on Friday night. It really doesn't feel like winter, but I'm not complaining.

Drennen Reserve
This is called the Drennen Reserve. It is where one of the founders of Van Buren lived. His name was John Drennen and was on the men at the Constitution Conventions for Arkansas in 1835. This house is on a hill near Main Street and looks out over the Arkansas River.
(Sorry I missed the last 2 days -- very busy.)

This was so beautiful this late afternoon, so I took the photo.
