civil war
This is a picture of my mother's great grandfather Milton Doss. He was in the U.S. Army 143 Reg. Indiana Inf. and was discharged on October 17, 1865.
He is the only relative that I know of that was in the north army in the Civil War. There were many in the Confederate army from Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.
(This was inspired by Abraham Lincoln's recent photos from his past.)

I ran into this on Main Street today. It was cold and windy, but this made me smile. :)

neighbor's yard
It's getting very cloudy this evening and it's supposed to rain tonight. This is the view into our neighbor's back yard. I hope these beautiful blumes aren't washed off tonight.

cattails
As you can see, the cattails down by the river have opened up for all the seed to blow out. This is much like life; as one ends, another starts.

riverside
I spent some time down by the river this afternoon. There were 32 geese! Here is a couple of them that were right next to me.

Easter
My older daughter left this note out Saturday night. I love the ending. :)
"Dear Easter Bunny,
can you look for my puppy Brownie? She is brown and soft and has long ears and a tail. If you do just put it on my bed and my room is by some steps.
Love Katie Beth.
p.s.- Don't use all that time looking."

rain
This is about all I saw today. It rained all night and all day. It's still raining! We had flood warnings and tornado warnings all around us, too. Hasn't happened here..... yet.

Main Street
The back side of the old Main Street. The buildings are close to or more than 100 years old.
I've always loved the back of buildings.

He didn't seem to mind it. At the rate our government is going, we'll all have these soon. :)

snow last week
Had to be at work today from 8:00 morning untill 9 night. Didn't have a chance to get a good picture.
It was in the 70's today, but this photo shows what it was like a week ago.

train station
This is the tourist station here in Van Buren. There is still a train stopping by here that takes people on trips up the mountains. I've done it a few times and had a great time. The building is close to a hundred years old.

I had a book signing last night in Fayetteville. That's north of Van Buren - the home of the University of Arkansas.

more of the same
I've been looking for the name of the artist, but the paper I have only shows the price of the works. If anyone from here sees this and knows, let me know.
