Another back-view at old mane street. I think they look more interesting from the back.

new restaurant
A new restaurant in Van Buren. Actually, it is in the building that was a Mexican restaurant. Try again, I guess.

St. Edwards
I had to go to St. Edwards Mercy Hospital (in Ft. Smith) today for a ct scan. No big deal, it was just a check up. I noticed this on the way out and thought it would be a nice picture.

Mom
This is in front of the Van Buren Municipal Complex. I noticed it today as I drove by and pulled over to get the photo. I don't remember any thing about it, so I don't know how long it has been there. It looks so crooked, but it was at a strange angle and if I got in that angle it still would look strange.

I-40
We're around half way between Little Rock and Oklahoma City, at the Oklahoma border. I-40 runs by at the north part of town. It's 2547 miles long, from North Carolina to California.

I thought this was funny. In the middle of construction this didn't seem to fit.

City Park
This is next to the swimming pool. It's been there for many years and it doesn't seem very threatening now that it has shrubs growing around it!

Swimming Pool
This is the Van Buren Public Swimming pool. It has been closed for a couple of years due to damage to the concrete. It's a shame that they haven't fixed it. 25,000 people without one is not a good thing. Maybe soon....

Train Ride!
Today I was on a train ride from Van Buren to up north in the mountains. (The train was seen in the movie "Biloxi Blues." Most of that movie was filmed in Van Buren and Fort Smith.) On the way, we were told that when the track was built in the 1880's, there had been an outbreak of small pox and more than 100 workers died. They said that the people were buried in a mass grave by the track. Many years later, the grave was found and two crosses were put there. This photo was taken as we passed by.

This is what's left of a bridge that went over the river to Ft. Smith. When I was a kid, they blew it down and built a new one.
